It's so great hearing someone share that story, it reminds me of why I got into comics. I'm a huge fan of Azbats too and the Knightfall story in general. I loved Kelly Jones' artwork and issue 501 (Azbats with bullet-ridden armour I think?) is so cool. I have that issue signed by Kelly and I also have a poster of Azbats that was displayed in comic book stores. Been meaning to get it framed.

I'm a Superman fan as you've probably guessed. Started with the films then The Death of Superman saga really got me consciously into comics and collecting (it was even on the news, which just showed how massive a deal it was). Then I heard on the radio not long after that Bruce Wayne had been replaced as Batman...the scramble to try and get issue 500! It was so hard to get at the time and pre-eBay.

Do you still read comics? It's an expensive hobby and I've dipped my toe into the New 52 but my nostalgia for the 90s Batman is high!

    Hi,

Yes! I was 10 and I wandered into a comic book shop, and picked up issue 501 of Batman. To my horror I realise Bruce Wayne is no longer Batman, and instead it's a blonde guy with a lethal metal suit. I was hooked. Az-Bats was the first ever Batman I knew (in the comics). I was kind of gutted when he began to lose it and Bruce eventually returned.

    Hi,

Really like your avatar - AzBats. Is that what got you into DC?
