Forum Rules
We have a nice group of members and would like to keep it that way. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

These rules apply generally, including thread posts, member reviews of movies and discs, and comments on news items etc.

General rules
  • No politics or religion: you are only allowed to discuss religion and politics when it is the main topic of a specific movie. Keep in mind that all people are different and have different beliefs, so be respectful to each other. Stay on topic and make sure what you say is directly related to the movie.
  • No social justice crusades, either pro or con. No debates about the behavior of persons whom a company or label employs, retains or associates with, or whose work it publishes. This site is for the discussion of Blu-ray discs, standard and 4K: their release, contents, quality and presentation. (We also have sections for DVD and streaming content, to which this same rule applies.) If you disapprove of a content provider’s conduct or politics, feel free to boycott the relevant thread by not posting in it. Kindly save any form of “culture wars” for social media.
  • No trolling.
  • Please do not use foul language.
  • No bashing other members.
  • Don't make broad statements that those with differing opinions are stupid/idiots (ad hominem).
  • If your only purpose on this forum is to bring negativity to the discussions or question Blu-ray as a format, then you are not welcome.
  • No racist remarks or discussion of race or race relations.
  • Don't threadcrap. In other words don't go into a thread about golfing and post "golf sucks" etc. It's unconstructive and it insults people who like golf.
  • If you can't contribute anything positive to the thread don't respond at all - just report the post if you think it should be reported.
  • No post whoring, we have enough posts as it is.
  • Be careful with using humor as it can be easily misinterpreted.
  • Please do not post the same topic in multiple areas.
  • You are not allowed to post advertising or engage in any other type of promotion (linking to your own site etc).
  • You are not allowed to have advertising or advertising links in your signature.
  • You are not allowed to have a username that's the same as a site, or similar indirect advertising.
  • For the sole reason of keeping the forums clean and not off-topic, charity is treated as advertising.
  • If posting a news item, provide quote + a link to where you found the information.
  • Please do not post a reply in a spam thread. Report the thread and it will be removed as soon as a Mod / Admin is available.
  • Use the Report Post option via the icon to report any rule violations rather than responding to them directly.
  • You are not allowed to discuss how to scam or rip-off stores/retailers.
  • It is strictly prohibited to discuss websites, techniques, software and any and all methods that can be used to duplicate, acquire or otherwise access copyrighted and copy protected material except via approved methods by the copyright holders (Blu-ray, DVD, iTunes, digital on-disc copies etc). This includes any and all all variations of disc copying software, torrents and any and all technologies that are available or may become available in the future for these purposes. This also includes any other form of illegal or unethical behaviour for example the unauthorised reproduction of copyright material and trademarks. Any breach deemed serious enough will be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
  • Do no troll other sites or encourage other members to troll other sites.
  • Duplicate accounts are not allowed, only one account per person.
  • It is strictly forbidden to pretend being a consumer when you are acting on behalf of any business interest. This is also a violation of law in many countries.
  • welcomes participation by reviewers and staff from other home theater sites. However, we ask that such personnel conduct themselves with courtesy and professionalism, just as they would have every reason to expect from our staff if we visited the sites where they work.

  • reserves the right to revoke or deny to anyone for any reason at any time without warning or prior notice access or membership to this site and its public forums.

These rules are periodically updated, revised and/or clarified. Members are responsible for knowing and following the current version.

    Common questions

    Stocks and shares
    Q. Can I buy shares in Blu-ray?
    A. No. Blu-ray is a standard that has been made up by a number of companies formed as an organisation (BDA) to manage various aspects of Blu-ray, such as licensing. That association is not a public company. The only way to invest in Blu-ray is to purchase shares from a company that is producing Blu-ray components or products. This site is for providing information on the technology of Blu-ray and does not provide any financial or investment services. Anyone that does try and sell their services on this forum, will find their posts deleted and access blocked to any more postings.
