Private Message notifcation

Yeah, i've only just realised I had 3 or so unread messages waiting for me from a few weeks back, when I glanced at the top of the screen haha. Is there any sort of notification process that can tell me when I get a new message? e-mail or even an on site notification which flashes up?


Thanks if anyone could tell me, usually on forums you get informed in some way, even if the unread messages just flash a different colour or what have you.
