Nice! A lot of fellow members seem to have ordered it lately. Never seen it before. Yes, Svet gave Silent Running a 4.0 so I thought what the hell for that price. Have you ever used kimchidvd? A member on the CJ Entertainment thread mentioned ordering Dirty Carnival and Secret Reunion from them and I checked and they do have both in stock. Did you like Secret Reunion(not sure if I've asked this already)? Would you recommend those films? Or do you think I should at least consider some other films?

Thanks! I can't wait to see it after all this hype. It probably should arrive just in time when I have one week off from school(only less than 2 weeks to go!). Picked up Silent Running from MoC as it was only £3.99 at AMZ. Let's see what happens..

    Hey Todd!

That makes me feel even better! Thank you for sharing your experience as I actually ordered it from Worridvd too! (...or however his name is spelled). Thanks man! Yeah, I have gotten it pretty easy so far, Heidi has done alot more than I have had to do. Yeah, I am pretty excited for Wu Xia, I have heard really good things. I'll definitely keep you posted. Yeah, I am excited for that Criterion sale, too. Have a great weekend as well!

You'll have to let me know what you think of 'Robber'. It caught my eye as well, but I just couldn't shake the fact it seemed like a rip off of 'The Town'. I hope my intuition is dead wrong!

By the way, haven't seen Drive yet, may just wait for the BD, with down to about 10 weeks to go until our wedding, it's crunch time!

    (Continued)

I do not know if anyone has made or is manufacturing a new hardware chip to allow these new units (93/95) to be Region Free for Blu-Rays. Looking on Amazon briefly, I do not see any that appear to be being sold as Region Free, so these may not be Region Free, at least as of yet. I am not sure. I'll look into it a bit more and if I find any or see any, I can let you know. I'd say just keep your eyes peeled.

Otherwise, it appears there are some other brands they are modding now. Check this out. Click Here.I believe this is the seller I purchased mine from. This model might work nice for you if you don't want to order up the Oppo, this is a modded LG.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

No problem. I ordered the Oppo BDP83 last year. Mine came complete with the Region Free modification kit so I did not have to do it myself. If I recall correctly, I want to say that I paid $699.00 with the kit installed. I actually did order mine through Amazon. At the time the BDP83 was Oppo's top of the line player.

They have since come out with 2 new models, the BDP93, and the BDP95. These replaced the BPD80, and the BDP83.

    Hey bud!

Nice! I would definitely suggest an Oppo if it is in your budget. The RF Oppo players are made region free by performing a hardware modification, not software. This is what you want because you can still update its firmware, etc. It works just like a normal player, except when the unit is off, you press and hold the Blue button on the remote for a few seconds, and then the player begins to beep. Once beeping, you press 1 for Region A, 2 for B, 3 for C. Then power it on, and it boots up in whatever region you selected. It works like a champ. Oppo's are also one of the best players on the market period. I still to this day don't think I would ever buy another BD player brand after having owned one.

Let me know if you have any other questions, Todd!

Shame it didn't get quite the treatment Pulp Fiction did. I have to wait at least until October 17th until it's released here in Europe and probably have to pay double price. Boo!

Everything is good, just extremely busy with my studies for the next couple of weeks but then I have one week off. Haven't bought anything in a while, I have so many unwatched that will keep me busy for a while. Watched L'auberge espagnole and Les poupees russes and loved both, especially the former. If/when you're purchasing a region free player I definitely recommend those films.

I want to buy so many films but I've promised to myself not to buy anything until I've finished my studies for this year. So far I've been able to obey that but..it's hard! I've been selling DVDs and BDs I don't care for anymore so that I can make a bigger purchase in December.

How about you? Hope everything is well. Have you watched any new films lately? Do you know yet what Asian films you're buying?

    Hey Todd!

Thanks for the info! Nice! I am looking forward to this as well. Simply based that the same guy directed Bronson had me pretty well sold. Hope you had a good weekend! Thanks again! Talk to you soon.

    Cheers,
    Adam

Sure thing my friend, just give me a few days and I'll let you know.

I know exactly how you feel! I need an region free BD player too. Just watched Forbidden Planet. Can't believe I'd never seen it before. Loved it. I also enjoy Svet's reviews, however he's been reviewing too many great films recently. Can't keep up with him anymore!
