Good news travels fast and that limited box set for The Sound of Music has our names on it. The catalogue bandwagon is gathering momentum. Now, all that's left to wonder is how quickly my friend will switch his avatar back to Hello, Dolly! again?? I'll be watching from the wings...

Rob, check out the separate thread on My Fair Lady. Robert Harris gives us an up-to-date status on where we stand in preparation for a Blu-ray release. Not a lot of extensive work to do in his opinion.

You're right, it has been showing. I just signed up for DirecTV this week, and saw it in the listing, but was unaware it had been shown before. My bad. Too bad I don't have cinemax. Oh well. Guess I'll DVR the HDnet version to sample it out of curiosity, but wait for the Blu-ray to view the whole film.

Rob, watched NINE again this afternoon. I enjoyed it better second time around after knowing what to expect. Drags a little in places but an honest effort overall by all concerned. Hope this project helps rather than hinders the momentum needed to produce more movie musicals.

Finally got 'round to watching Rob Marshall's NINE last night. You warned me. It's going to be an acquired taste... Not much more than a few good songs strung together with some razzle dazzle and a lot of therapy in search of a moral center. Whatever possessed him to produce this not-so-well-known Broadway musical is beyond my understanding. It is still a worthwhile effort for all concerned but where will it find an audience? Hope after his "Pirates of the Caribbean" excursion that Rob Marshall returns to another "safer" and more tuneful musical project.

Thank you, Rob. Look forward to it. My email is ljhutchinson1001@hotmail.com.
I will drop you a line this evening when I have more time. Got to do the reality check and get the munchkins off to school. Take care.

Nice to meet you Leon. And what a great post you made on the musicals thread, wow, we have alot in common, in the 60's and 70's I was listening to musical soundtracks too, going to the movies, collecting posters and going to stage shows.

Thank you, Robert, for accepting my friend invite. My real name is Leon Hutchinson originally from Australia our family is looking to relocate to Alburquerque NM in about 3 years time. Alburquerque Studios begins to draw more productions away from Los Angeles, becoming more cost effective so it seems. I graduated from Queensland University of Technology with an Associate Degree Performing Arts (Theatre) in preparation for a professional career which sadly, like so many others before me, was never fully realized. I plan to upgrade my current qualifications completing a course in Journalism for the Media at the University of New Mexico. Any suggestions you might think helpful would be most welcome. Hope we see My Fair Lady moved up for a Blu-Ray release... October's DVD release might seem encouraging, but we probably should not get our hope's up.

Yes I remember you posting about it. Thanks for the friend invite. Let's hope the classic situation changes, we now have a fantastic format to see these movies, it is such a shame that they deem it more valuable to release 50 blu-rays a month that are either cheap awful horror films or teen sex comedies than any good classics from thousands of great movies. It's rather disgusting to me. The way I feel is...how do they get Blu-ray into homes of classic fans (which would be a whole new consumer base) by releasing 10-15 movies a year from before 1970? I understand from what I am told that the classics aren't selling that well, but I say put out a good enough supply of them and classic fans will want a player.
