Hey, Svet, I left you a message on Wednesday asking about 2K resolution. Just thought you should know, and I sent an updated version of the message because I wrote to Criterion about it. Just thought you should know.

This isn't it. There are traces of bad digital work on it, which is why on a larger screen you will see surface smearing. It is very obvious. In other words, the master isn't done right -- or as well as it could have been, if you prefer. This is why certain areas do not look like organic film does. The stitching alone would not have caused the difference.

Hi Dr. Svet, didn't know the best place to let you know this, but RE: your Irreversible review. The film was shot on film but edited and shots stitched together digitally in 2k, I imagine this would explain the shortcomings of the master that you note in your review. I would be surprised if they did anything other than just access the 20 year old DI, which probably has the issues you noted baked in.

Raphdude, the film's end credits use Oingo Boingo's "Goodbye, Goodbye"

Dr Svet, thanks for the Fast Times at Ridgemont High review. One question, were the original end credits on the film with the song “That’s all there is” playing? Thanks, Eric

Thank you for the spot on Defending Your Life review. I saw that movie 30 years ago when it came out...and I still think it’s a terrible movie, no matter the remastered presentation. I see a lot of just bad movies getting the Blu remaster but most seem afraid to call out the if some unsuspecting new generation will discover it.

Just read your review of "Soldier Blue" and found myself nodding all through. Roger Ebert also saw right through the film and out the other side when it first came out:
