Thanks for the kind words Greg. It's a great thing to have a special relationship with a movie like that. I just watched one of mine a couple of weekends ago: Driving Miss Daisy. I watched it teary-eyed from start to finish not only because it's a beautiful film but because I have a fond memory of seeing it with my dad and grandma, who where the two most important people in my life growing up and whom I have since lost. I remember the whole process so vividly: which theater it was, where we parked, and my grandma's enthusiasm to see it (she was a native Mississippian so she better understood the culture and the timeframe). Those are the best movies, the ones that mean more than just simple entertainment. Glad you have that.

I see some of LeRoi Moore's items are being auctioned off, he passed away in 2008 and was a founding member of one of my faves, Dave Matthews Band. Thought you'd like to see what his speakers were - http://www.artdaily.org/index.asp?in...2#.UbnfTJxpfHi

I'll say it again: The government and its commissions can be held accountable for any bias--real or perceived. Stone is accountable to no one except the studio that just wants to make money. He's biased, ignorant and uses the power of his platform to sway the weakminded.

    Greg,

Talk about a completely unprofessional and politically bias review you wrote for JFK. The film looks beautiful on bluray and I think Stone's film contains more truth than the Warren Commission did, but nevermind that. You should forfeit your review and have another contributor to this website provide a more professional review of the film and the bluray.

Your view on JFK is misguided.

Sure, Stone's film invents and takes artistic liberty but it's also a movie. You find problems that people are eating it up as the true event, well, people have eaten up the Warren Commission as the true event as well, or do you actually believe that's how it went down?

It's better for people to question especially when the circumstances are dubious and I'm not talking about fictional characters in his movie. Magic bullet theory? Obvious cover ups? You don't question that then there's more of a problem with people blindly believing what the government spoonfeeds you as truth which you may or may not be guilty of as well.

    Hello Gremal,

I was able to replicate the problem you were having with Hugo, and your Oppo, however I was able to get the disc to play in my BDP83.

    Please see this post.

I found if after when the disc appears to stall at 0 00:00:00, just wait! I waited about 2-3 minutes (odd for an Oppo, but nonetheless...) and then the loading screen appeared very quickly, and went right on to the menu, and the disc played.

It does appear that the player is stalling or not reading the disc, but I just kept waiting, and it did load then, and seemed to work just fine. Hopefully, you will find the same thing.

I hope this helps you, and perhaps saves you from having to watch the DVD.

Good luck, I'd love to hear if this worked for you as well.

    Cheers,
    Adam

There is a very strange issue in the Blu-Ray of "The Shining" that occurs at about 1:19:45. As Danny has a vision of blood pouring out of the elevator doors, the image seems to "shudder." The is especially noticeable if you look at the top of the frame over the elevator doors. This same issue is present in the 2-disc Special Edition DVD. However, it is not present in the original DVD release in the "Director's Approved" aspect ratio.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

    Hi Greg,

By the way, you remember when you purchased those expensive Power Cords as replacement and found out how much they improved your equipment performance. Dave Schulte is sending me 2 used ones of these in excellent condition and he has replaced the stock ends with the Oyide 079 connectors (the Power Cords should be better than stock) to audition and for a good price:

Hopefully they will be delivered Monday or Tuesday. I anticipate placing them between the wall outlets and my Isolation Transformers or between the Isolation Transformers and my 2 Exact Power EP15A Power Conditioners. That way they will have a positive affect on the whole system performance.

    Rich
