That's fantastic! Congratulations again! It's looking pretty solid in there; I bet you're enjoying your collection like never before!

I was actually just thinking about this and whether or not you'd be getting one yesterday!
Congratulations; a 40" is very respectable

Enjoy spending lots of time with your new TV!

Just keep saving! $1000 will probably be the high point for a TV like that so close to Christmas, in my experience (and I used to work at an electronics store, so I do have some!). I can't see you having much of a problem.

Oh! I like Samsung - congratulations on your future purchase, my friend. That looks like a fine television. 46" is a great size too; it's what I have in my living room. I'd like a projector one day, but that's a distant dream.

Hey man - been a while!

I just thought I'd ask if you were able to calibrate your ASUS monitor to your current needs or if you've sprung for a full-fledged big screen TV yet? Just curious.

    Cheers!

Good question - I used a Ben-Q until today, ironically enough. It really depends on your monitors settings. If you have adjustable brightness, contrast, and/or backlight settings, your off to a decent start.

A word of warning though: I have pretty much destroyed my monitor by using it as a television (they simply aren't meant for those things, imho). If you ever get the opportunity, a TV is a wise and solid investment. For the time being, the monitor is probably a safe bet.

Also, monitors are usually ultra-bright. They may require you to fiddle with the settings on your Blu-ray player to reflect the screen's additional brightness and darkness. If you have any specific questions related to settings, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I use a PS3 for Blu-rays, so if you're using one of them, I can also provide assistance with that if you have any pertinent questions.

    Hey there,

That there should get ya covered! Be sure to read through the instructions online. Overall, I find the disc an indispensable resource for calibrating everything from computer monitors to plasmas to big LCD's, so hopefully it'll help you out with your situation.

    Cheers!
