i noticed an typo on your review of Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954-1975
"With the exception of the original 1854 film, which was more recently redone, the rest of the films in this box set appear to have been sourced from older remasters."
    1854? do you mean 1954?

    Good evening, Dr. Atanasov.
Do you like musicals? Do you like the 2012 adaptation of Les Miserables? Which Disney titles you believe they deserve a 4K UHD release by Criterion like WALL-E? Do you think that WALLE- deserved a Criterion release?

    Thank you.

    Hey Terry,

You need to empty your PM box if you want me to respond I'd say go for City of Industry. Even though Kino fumbled the Blu-ray release -- lousy master -- it is a great neo-noir thriller with an outstanding soundtrack. Some legit '90s heavy-hitters there: Massive Attack, Tricky, etc. One of my favorites.

And no, George, having a Blu-ray player does not make you old-fashioned. I still buy DVDs. I recently picked up Amongst Friends because I could not find my previous release.

    Have a great week, George

    1. A good 4K Blu-ray player that upscales your Blu-rays to 4K can do pretty impressive things. However, 4K Blu-ray has an expanded color gamut, plus, as you know, HDR/Dolby Vision produce visuals with superior dynamic range. So, to answer your question, upscaled 1080p/i content would be somewhat similar to upscaled 480/i to 720p/1080p. It will look better, but native 4K output is superior. I do not have any experience with the Phillips player you mention.

    2. I have Contact and Run Lola Run. If Sony puts out a single 4K Blu-ray release of Lola, I will get it. But we do not have to upgrade everything. Blu-ray is a great format and I am very, very happy with the results it delivers.

    1. I am sorry, I somehow missed your previous post/question. I do not have Picnic at Hanging Rock yet. Hopefully, I will have the 4K Blu-ray release next week

    2. The Four Musketeers -- our review will be up shortly. The Three Musketeers looks fantastic after it was restored in 4K. Death on the Nile would be great to have on 4K Blu-ray too, but the current Blu-ray release is wonderful

    Have a great week, Raphdude.

Greatly enjoyed your 3 Musketeers 4K review & im looking forward to the Four Musketeers as well. I have both on the way from Amazon UK!
I sure hope Studio Canal will do Death of the Nile (1978) someday!

    Good evening, Dr. Atanasov.
Did you had time to check the information I sent you few days ago? Which of the following movies have you seen and liked? Contact, Run Lola Run, Wonderstruck, The Black Phone, Alien and Aliens? I have a lot but for the time I give you those. By the way I have a question: Since I have a Samsung 4K Smart TV with HDR and a Philips Blu-ray Player BDP-3200 will my 4K remastered Blu-rays look similar to full 4K? Do you believe that having a Blu-ray player instead of a 4K UHD player makes you feel old fashioned? Because the 4K UHD players here in Greece are very expensive and I have in my mind to buy a new player because the player I already have, due to the fact I haven't used it for months its door stuck and it goes slow.

    Thank you.

Thank you, sir! I’m satisfied so far. No skipping/freezing 4K discs. That’s always a plus anything you’d think 4K players would be able to play 4K discs without any trouble.

You have chosen a very good player. You will be very happy with its performance
