As far as the new "Outsiders" in 4K, unless the British version is different, the 2 disc version, which I have, states that the Theatrical version is in 5.1, while the Extended version is, interestingly, in 5.0.

    Hello Dr Svet,

I noticed that you wrote the review of The Silence of the Lambs 4K UHD release from Kino Lorber on the blu-ray.com site.

Largely I agree with your review. However now some time after it's been on the market it's come to the attention of several forum members that the color space is incorrect in the first 20 minutes of the movie on the 4K BD (but not on the BD).

The problem is described in this and subsequent forum posts. There are also comparison screenshots here illustrating the problem.

So I just wonder if you also have become aware of this color space problem on the 4K BD? If so, would you consider updating the review to mention it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best Regards,
    Fjodor2000

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for the recommendation. I don't have a lot of confidence in Gaumont as the lab that grades their color films tends to do it in one way only -- or at least this used to be the case, before I stopped picking up their releases. But I am going to look into the three-disc set. Thank you, and I hope all is well with you, Eric

    Dr. Svet,
I read your review of the blu ray of The Damned & was sorry to hear about the poor quality of the transfer. However, I would like to share some good news. I received my blu rays of Claude Zidi’s Les Ripoux Trilogy and wanted to let you know that the video transfers and sound quality are excellent & the best that I have ever seen for these films. They are all region free & I heartily recommend that you pick them up. The transfers are very film like, clean, with no overuse of DNR & with hardly if any dirt or scratches. Gaumont treated these films very well. My only negative is that there are no English subtitles for films 1 and 2. However, I know these films so well that it doesn’t make any difference for me. As always I appreciate your reviews. I heartily recommend that you purchase these with confidence. Enjoy!!!
    All my best,
    Eric

But of course. It can't be any other way, comrade "whistleblower".
Even George Orwell told us so!

It is time to revisit other "truths" from the film/novel. “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.”

    Dr Svet,
I thought I would share the fantastic news that Gaumont is finally releasing the Claude Zidi Les Ripoux Trilogy with Phillipe Noiret on blu ray in October in France. With them I know they are going to be great!! Now if I could just get Studio Canal to put Chateliez’s Le Bonheur est dans le Pre on BD I’d be really happy! Picked up Criterion’s Bergman set and Betty Blue today at BN for half off! I’m sated!! Anyway, keep safe and watch blu-rays!!
    All my best,
    Eric
