Hi Big Daddy, thanks for tip on the Risers. I'm about to make a couple and have a few questions.
    1. For the legs, can I use 4 legs (instead of 2) so that the foam underneath won't be seen, and will appear neater rather than 4 legs that might make it look like a stool?
    2. For higher risers, can't I just make the 4 legs 2" x 6" instead of putting corner legs, or did you just add the 4 poles/legs since you were already done making the 2"x4" legs?
    3. Now if I make the riser 6", should the foam also be 6" thick, or what's the minimum thickness of foam I should put underneath?

    Thanks much!

If your receiver has pre-outs for all the channels, you can buy aa three-channel or five-channel amplifier and a subwoofer.

The other option is to buy a good quality higher end used receiver for a lower price and a subwoofer. As an example, I am selling my previous high-end Denon receiver which is in great shape at one-third its original price. You can find the information in the following link.

If there is a receiver, you should connect your vlu-ray player and cable box to the receiver with HDMI cables and then connect the receiver to the TV with an HDMI cable. Also, all your speakers should be connected to the receiver. You can also directly connect the blu-ray player and the cable box to the TV with HDMI cables. However, you won't be able to use the external speakers.

If you want to connect your headphone to the TV and the TV does not have a headphone output, your only option is a headphone amp.

    also ...

    2) My TV offers Samsung SMART TV apps and the Sony offers the Bravia SMART TV stuff too. With the way I have it connected now, can I only have access to the Bravia content because Samsung SMART TV won't stream through Sony? Is it possible to get access to both since I technically paid for both?

    3) I have headphones I'd like to use to listen to the TV especially for late at night. Neither the TV or Blu-Ray have a headphone jack. I read in one of your older posts about a headphone amp. Is this your best recommendation for this?

Hi Big Daddy, I'm very new to this and had a few Blu-Ray questions that I'd love answers to. As a new member, it looks as if I cannot start my own thread. What's the easiest way to get some help with the following 3 issues I'm facing? Thanks very much ...

I'm a beginner to this, but I have a few quick questions about the compatability between the Sony Blu-Ray player & corresponding surround sound I just received as a gift and the Samsung LED TV it's connected to.

    1) I followed instructions to connect TV and Blu-Ray via HDMI and then Cable Box and Blu-Ray via HDMI. Everytime I want to watch any TV it means my Blu-Ray needs to be on to activate the speakers. Is there a better way to connect this so that I have the OPTION to watch TV through my normal TV speakers, and then only turn on the Blu-Ray when I want to listen using surround sound?
