    Hi...

yeah, sorta... every now and then the sound disappear... for example when i'm at the menu selection on a bluray and the press "play movie" the sound can dissapear... but all i do then is switch to another audio source and then back again it's all good again... other than that problem it works great...

Hi, XRA: Thanks for stopping by gallery. I removed word "budget" from the name.

After browsing through all the amazing dedicated home theaters with top end gears, I thought it necessary to mention mine is non-dedicated space (no theater style seats, risers, not even an enclosed room, light colored walls and ceilings etc.) and more of a regular living space that happens to have A/V setup. But I agree "budget" does not really do that. Thanks again.

Yeah I saw those, just not sure how to use the whole SPL thing. More research I guess.

i don't have problems with the 308 video wise and i've got it connected to an Oppo 80 player, HD-DVR cable box with no problems ever.

think you much your heads gonna hurt if you buy something that had a known problem and you didn't do that research and are possibly stuck with it!

i have read about HDMI problems with the 508, video dropping issues. make sure you do your homework before buying it. i'm not telling you not, i'm just saying, do your research first, don't let that price pull you in. i have seen more than 3 different reports about HDMI video troubles.

PART 2 it does have individual channel level setting so you can calibrate the individual channels as needed with an SPL or by ear (as i did) for the best sound. believe it or not, for my small setup i the basement, this is perfect. again, it's still a very good receiver for the price and features that i mentioned before. i just wanted to make sure you understood this before buying it. for use in my secondary small HT, it was NOT a deal breaker, in fact, it fit the bill perfectly.

    hope this helps.

can't speak about that as i have never used it. i will tell you that there is NO Automatic Calibration program on the 308, it's meant to be a low cost entry level receiver. the speakers are set as either small or large and there is a universal crossover for all speakers set to small so it should be set to the "smallest" speaker (the one with the highest crossover" i.e. if your fronts are rated to 40hz and your surrounds are rated to 100hz then in the 308 receiver you would set the crossover at 100 or higher if you prefer.
