It was a party movie that relied on the viewers having read the book for any real characterization and the film loses most of its meaning in the changes they make. Unacceptable garbage, but I suppose one man's trash is another man's treasure.

No, I never particularly regret spending money on seeing a movie. Oldboy was entertaining which is more than I could say for Kick-Ass 2 or The Great Gatsby. Even in those cases, as bad as they were, they gave me perspective. You could never know a good movie if you didn't see a bad one.

I know you don't rate anymore, but I agree with your 2 rating of the Oldboy remake. It had some goofier parts, but I though Lee's take on the film was passably entertaining.

I knew you were a Criterion fanatic but figured you'd be a little more discerning. Holy crap!!

How many Criterions do you own? No way am I looking through your entire collection and counting them one-by-one.

Harry Hill tends to have his moments, granted he works best working with preset material, but for the most part he's a bit of stretch. Plus with it being a kids film, it doesn't have the vastly horrible vulgar nature of Lemon.

If it's going to be bad, it's going to be comparable to Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger. We are never to talk about that one...

Hopefully not, it has Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent in it, so it's at least hitting B list standards. Plus I did sort of like the chickens with Machine guns...depending on where they fit in contextually.

Also a bit of it was shot in Blackpool, I walked past the set.

Just when I thought it was safe to go back to multiplex without fear of another lousy UK TV value Comedy film being made...
