I’ll never understand the complaints about controls in BotW that some make as everything feels pretty simple. But I also see the same complaints about games like Horizon which I also disagree with. I suppose I acclimate to different control schemes in games more naturally now the Ultrahand controls in TotK do take a little getting used to for sure, that one is undeniable.

The ones I pulled up were online showing the newest ones and not on the Switch itself so I must not be seeing the ones you are referencing that came before.

Edit: Went and take a look on the Switch, the ones you are talking about are all from the original game art, there’s nothing from 3 or the DLC there. So you’re actually mad about how the characters originally were drawn . Looks like they also have Shulk/Fiora from 2’s DLC and Definitive Edition plus original game artwork, the site I visited left most of those out.

Yep the Switch version is what I played back in…2018 I think? Not sure. But it should definitely be a sizable improvement if even just for the fact that it will run at 4K on my tv instead of 720p.

While I think you’re insane to think its better than BotW I did quite enjoy that one too, the humor was particularly well done.

I hadn’t seen them so I pulled them up and the only one I thought looked a little off was Mechon Fiora. Riki, Alvis, Dunban and Melia look to be using their Definitive Edition character art while Shulk seems to use the art from the original release, maybe Sharla too. Standard Fiora is from her look in Challenge Mode DLC for 2 (non-canon). Its definitely odd they chose to mix so many different sources. But don’t worry on Melia in 3, her in game design is fantastic

Looks like I'll finally be getting to Ys VIII PS5 some time in June now that I've wrapped up Tears of the Kingdom. Probably going to take a bit of a gaming break for a bit first then get into that. Will probably also be replaying Spidey Remastered: Now With Ugly Peter Edition and Miles before Spidey 2.

I'd say a lot of that can be chalked up to being a portable game actually. The combat is definitely button-mashy if you aren't mixing it up using different special attacks (I forget what they are called here). I can't say I remember ever getting hung up with any progress blockers but could be that I'm more used to JRPGs or different playstyles that maybe I cleared out whatever needed to be done before I was supposed to. Guess I'll have to pay attention when I get into the PS5 version at some point this year.

I scratch my head over the complaining about the map honestly. It's not great but I don't understand how people got so lost so easily. On my replay I had zero issues with navigation Since I am going to assume you will be sticking to primarily the story and skipping most of the side questing I don't think you'll have any problems. The problem for navigation in that game is the 'field skill' system which is objectively stupid and cleaned up SO much in Torna.

I saw a number of 1st Party games for $30 which is basically the best you can expect from Nintendo and even Sony these days

I didn’t end up picking up any games this year, oh well, with my previously mentioned packed schedule its not a big deal. Ideally Gotham Knights will get that performance patch they promised by the time I have a chance to play it probably in late Spring or early Summer.

I’m only through 2 of 5 regions in Tales but Ys is definitely the better game. I’ve bought it on two systems after all. Not sure when I’ll get to the new version of Ys though as I probably won’t be back at Tales until after Thanksgiving and then Crisis Core drops in December and Fire Emblem in January…then Octopath 2 in February.

Best Buy’s sale was literally live before their ad came out I was hoping for Triangle Strategy hit $30 but Square decided to put almost all their other games on sale instead.

Those are pretty standard fare for JRPGs, so if you continue down the rabbit hole then be prepared to get much more of that.

I’ve put in about 14 hours so far and its much better than the demo was, which I didn’t like. Scarlet Nexus is the superior game so far but this has been no slouch either.

That price point actually happens with some sort of frequency on their first party games but gets lost in the online hyperbole . Triangle Strategy will without doubt hit $29.99 over the next several months since it is a Square game.

It was actually developed entirely for Wii U until late in development, so it looking as good as it does is even more impressive given context. Its been a few years since I played so I don’t remember specifics but I don’t remember thinking there were any problems with the controls, maybe you need to get more JRPGs under your belt for truly convoluted controls
