    Dr Svet,
I thought I would share the fantastic news that Gaumont is finally releasing the Claude Zidi Les Ripoux Trilogy with Phillipe Noiret on blu ray in October in France. With them I know they are going to be great!! Now if I could just get Studio Canal to put Chateliez’s Le Bonheur est dans le Pre on BD I’d be really happy! Picked up Criterion’s Bergman set and Betty Blue today at BN for half off! I’m sated!! Anyway, keep safe and watch blu-rays!!
    All my best,
    Eric

[b]1.There has never been, and never will be, a XXX cut of Basic Instinct.
    2. More proof that if the politically correct crowd have their way, they will completely erase history.
    3. Those of use that were around when the film hit theaters are not that naive to believe the latest PR spin. Buy the 4K Blu-ray. Enjoy the film. If the restoration is done right, it will be a treat.

THE '70s ARE BACK, BABY. TIME TO FINALLY CHECK OUT THE LOCAL THEATER. THERE SHOULD BE PLENTY OF GOOD MOVIES TO SEE NOW.

    ThatDeviantGuy,

This isn't it. There are traces of bad digital work on it, which is why on a larger screen you will see surface smearing. It is very obvious. In other words, the master isn't done right -- or as well as it could have been, if you prefer. This is why certain areas do not look like organic film does. The stitching alone would not have caused the difference.

Hi Dr. Svet, didn't know the best place to let you know this, but RE: your Irreversible review. The film was shot on film but edited and shots stitched together digitally in 2k, I imagine this would explain the shortcomings of the master that you note in your review. I would be surprised if they did anything other than just access the 20 year old DI, which probably has the issues you noted baked in.
