I forgot to comment on this from a few posts back:

"What I'd be looking for is more detail and clarity from the sound at lower volumes."

While I feel the LPA-1 did an excellent job providing good clarity and punch at lower volumes, my XPA-2 did take it to another level, for obvious reasons. It is more dynamic at lower volumes over the LPA-1. It's not a night and day difference, but noticeable. But that said, I wouldn't be hurting if I had to get rid of my XPA-2. The LPA-1 is a fine amp, as is its successor, the UPA-7.

Now responding to your last message...

No problem. I'll note that UPA or LPA amp you mentioned probably won't be able to outperform the monoblocks with separation. But it's really going to depend what you're looking for. To some people, tonal quality is more important than soundstage, imaging, etc. Overall I would expect you'd be happy with the UPA-7. I've read very few negatives on this unit. Hold tight with that UMC, though, some people have had issues with there's. Mine has been pretty solid.

I PM'd you my bottom line price on the UMC.

Let me know how it goes with the new gear after you've spent time with it.

Ok, I just read your 2nd to last response that you couldn't respond to my PMs so I'll write on your wall. So in response to this same message...

I would expect more of a difference adding an amp to your 805 than replacing the 805 with the UMC-1 and an amp. This is mainly with HT, though as otherwise the UMC-1 IMO does win out with 2-channel music. If you listen to music files and have a way to upconvert to 192k/24, the UMC simply sounds amazing in this format.
