    Hi again,

I noticed you listed "It Happens Every Spring" as one of your favorite baseball movies. I am assuming that is the one you were thinking of (WIth Ray Milland). I kinda doubt it will ever see a Blu-ray release, but my fingers are crossed. It is a fun film that I have always enjoyed. The way the ball just skips over the bat is quite amusing. I am hoping that another Ray Milland film, "The Lost Weekend" will get a Blu-ray release someday. Anyway, I always enjoy your posts, and am glad to call you my friend. Take care.

Well, you cannot always go by the critics as we have seen time and time again. according to Amazon they have the digibook of Master and Commander in stock. Not sure what is contained on the disc though. You may want to check out their site for more info.
Now war Horse, just didn't look too interesting to me. The storyline Imean, not the critics reviews. hey I'm sure most people wouldn't even give the Artist a second consideration once they find out it is not widescreen, black and white, and silent. These all make me want to see it, not all the critical acclaim. i just use critics reviews as a means of finding out what the movie is about. Then I decide for myself if it is one I wish to see or not.

No M&C did not get a 2-Disc Blu if I remember. It got a 2-Disc DVD which I currently own. I thought it got a Digibook release, but I have never seen that with my own eyes. If I could find the current Blu for $10 or less I could be persuaded to grab it until a better version comes out. I have not seen The Tree of Life, and while I did consider it, I don't think I will watch it. I just went to see War Horse today. That was a beautiful movie. Spielberg still has it going on. I don't agree with the critics on a lot of movies. They hated Mummy 3, but I enjoyed it. I loved the Yetis, they were so cool. They also trashed New Year's Eve, but once again I loved it. I'm a sucker for movies like that.

I may get Pocahontas on blu when it comes out, but not sure yet. Though I do have Ferbgully on pre order. I think Robin Williams best animated film was, of course, Aladdin. I think Tim Curry was awesome in Fergully as well and would have made a good Grinch in Howard's film. Not that Jim Carrey was bad, but Curry just has that type of smile that you never know what lies beneath the surface.
I can see you waiting for a better edition of Master asnd Commander to come along, but I think I bought it for ten bucks if I am not mistaken, but it was some time ago. Didn't they release a two disc blu of the film?
I must confess though, I had rented Moulin Rouge and couldn't even sit thru the whole thing. But hey people loved The Tree Of Life and both me and my bf gave it a good half hour and had to turn it off. Just reinforces my opinion that if a reviewer usually raves about a movie i am noit going to neccessarily enjoy it.

Master and Commander is an awesome movie. I want to get the Blu, but will wait until a better edition comes along. Pocahontas is not the greatest Disney film by a long shot, but it has some gorgeous animation (what else is new?) and some great music. I didn't hate Super 8 the first time though, far from it. There are two movies that I absolutely hated the first time I saw them. A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Moulin Rouge. After catching A.I. again on DVD about a year after watching it in the theater I came away with a whole new viewpoint. The film is beautiful to look at in a dreary and gritty sort of way. The visuals are truly grand and inventive. I love Teddy. Moulin Rouge is just one Red Bull away from a heart attack. Talk about absolute insanity. However, Ewan McGreggor and Nicole Kidman keep it real with their turns. I agree with those who say that Kidman has never been or looked better than she did in Rouge. Well, maybe Australia. Stunning. And very funny.

Yes I have heard about Avatar and Pocahontas, but never got around to seeing Pocahontas. You could place the Avatar names intro Ferngully and it wouild, for the most part, work.
I see what you mean about liking movies the second time around. For me the one that comes to mind is the first Back To The Future. I had heard so much about it before seeing it, there was no way it was going to live up to my expectations. After the second veiwing though I was able to finally appreciate it. i hope the same thing doesn't happen for The Artist, a film I would love to see in the theater, but has yet to come to my area.
For the most part I do not care for historical dramas, or ones that take place before 1900. The exceptions are Amadeus, Master And Commander and the original Mutiny On The Bounty. Laughton gives one of his best performances as Capt. Bligh.

You forgot Pocahontas. I saw somewhere online a while back someone had taken a school movie report on Disney's Pocahontas and crossed out the character names from that movie and placed the ones from Avatar instead. The result was rather hysterical I'll tell you. I love Avatar as well for the amazing world of Pandora. And the story, while nowhere near new, is strong enough to hold the world of Pandora up. Some good performers help too. Love Sigourney. I liked Super 8 more the second time I saw it in theaters than I did the first. I think my expectations were way off about it on the first go around so on the second I approached it on its terms. I have loved it from that point forward. Like you said, no one is going to like everything. I may have heard of Boardwalk Empire in passing, but it never captured my full attention. I love certain historical films though. Pride & Prejudice with Keira being a front runner. Even though it is fiction not fact it is extraordinarily beautiful.
