Nothing is better than upgrading a projector!

I'll be honest and recommend that you save your money on purchasing calibration gear. The reason is because cheaper light meters will not give you a more accurate picture than the default cinema mode that your JVC features. I SPENT $1000 on Calman and a cheap meter and the results are not accurate. The software shows accurate numbers but when I test with my Spears and WOW disc and blu-rays the image is way off. A cheap meter can't read dark grayscale which means I have red push and poor gamma tracking. I've spent sooo much time and money on calibrating my displays and I enjoy them much more in default picture modes like my THX mode in my Epson 5030. Skin tones, color, contrast looks much better and accurate.

Thanks! I'm loving it so far. For a $1500 difference, the Epson held its own. They do make a great projector. I'm now trying to figure out how to calibrate the JVC. I downloaded JVC's software. Now just need to get the equipment and its off to learning.

Whatsup Ross! I did not get it ISF calibrated. Only used Disney WOW and Spears and Munsil discs for calibration. By the way, I just UPGRADED to a JVC X570R. Holy @#!$. What a difference. On an added note: I side-by-side compared this with the Epson 5040 and was amazed at both projectors. The JVC won because of taste and not performance.

Trust me darbee is on my list... It's putting more sugar on sugar Fortunately for us (owning the 5030), I can take my sweet time... LOL

What's up Boss Ross! Still haven't (lol). THX is the mode I view it in. The picture is so beautiful in THX that I am in no hurry to do so. My friend who is a ISF tech came by for a viewing before doing a full calibration. After drooling over the PQ, he asked why even do the calibration. So, I said some other time then. Good thing is that we are friends and I don't pay for calibrations

Ross, i didnt calibrate using anything but my eye. While i appreciate the discs and the forums where evrybody posts what setting it should be at and following some format and recipe and then not having my cable box look totally different from my vudu streaming app and totally different from my xbox one netflix and different from the bluray disc and even furthermore different from my dvd of the same title. So to answer your question, simply no, i calibrated using what i like to see, so it may be a little greener than intended and might even be a bit brighter on the tv cable box setting because i watch a lot of sports and i dont they intended them to have the best black levels and all that for an event you want to see all the action. I always tell people, if it looks good to you, then you calibrated it correctly. Lol but thanks for the compliments and i rated your setup5 stars a long time ago. I like the decor and looks like anice image on yourscreen.👍🏻

I won't say exactly where I live, but in a densely populated area between Kitchener and Toronto I haven't been to Ottawa in years, but was in the Kingston area during the summer a few times. Nice area too.
