You mean their "clever" answer to casting ScarJo? I read the Wiki, it actually kinda sounds interesting but given what I saw, I have no faith in the movie to actually do something interesting with that material. This was just a total miscalculation in every way, between this and Beauty and the Beast (another recent movie I couldn't finish, but I didn't dislike it), I just don't get the point of these animated movies reimagined in live-action. There's no heart, there's nothing there to actually improve on, and unlike BatB which is kinda timeless, GitS' time is WAY past its expiration date.

lmao man, I went into that so open-minded and wanting to like it, but by about the 30 minute mark I just gave up. It's so lifeless, so pointless. Pretty pictures can only go so far. I'm glad I blind-bought it just so I could learn my lesson and not make the same mistake in the future.

I think it just had to do with my own expectations getting in the way, which I kinda had a feeling was the problem when I got out of seeing it the first time. I do still have some issues with the third act, and I don't like that we just see too much of the creatures (xenos are always scarier in the shadows, plus the CG for them is kinda unconvincing at times). But overall it's an enjoyable Alien movie. It's not much of a Prometheus sequel, but it's a solid Alien movie.

    Yup, I thought so too.

Also I saw Covenant again. Definitely much better the second time around.

Oh and I did mean to tell you. I gave Green Room another chance and ended up liking it quite a bit. I dunno what bit me the first time, but seeing it again was like another experience. I still think it's kinda overhyped but it's definitely good, with some REALLY good moments.

I thought they overdid it with the CG but yeah, design-wise they were pretty cool. The white-ish one that David tries to communicate with (neomorph?) was creepy as hell.

What'd you think of the new Xenomorphs?
