I do hope the new BD of CASTLE IN THE SKY includes the new score. That was the best part of the Disney dub (Mark Hamill and Cloris Leachman were the others, but to me the new score gave the dub a lot of soul).

Ghibli, on the musical side.

When Ghibli does a soundtrack CD (in the case of the Disney Dubs), do Walt Disney Records (our Distributor) and Tokuma Communications (their distributor) deal with pressing together or alone, or are there multiple parties involved and not just those two?

in these co-productions it is trickier to determine who is the majority owner of a given film based on the way copyright owners are listed to the work.

Interstellar i figured as much both Warner Bros and Paramount Pictures both own the film as i watched the roll (which doesn't scroll up the screen, its all on slides). I think who the owner of that one could be is Paramount, Warner probably may only have been given the international prints to own the rights to.

for if i stay (being licensed to both WB and MGM), there's an even trickier hurdle as the film is a registered to trademark to one of the parties, but that can't possibly happen as MGM no longer distributes for itself as of 2010 (hot tub time machine 1 was their last distributing for themselves, beginning from zookeeper they are all co-productions).

Warner Bros is the partner in all international distribution when they are listed ahead of other parties like MGM, interesting.

i found even more info on if i stay, specifically through the end credits, this is a legally owned MGM production and is a registered trademark to them.

since the last part of the legal at the very end of the credit roll, credits both of them for producing the piece, what would MGM's interpretation of copyright law for this title mean?

ok, it is not eligible, touchstone continues to be excluded from DMA and UV.

older ones will stop at Itunes and Windows media as far as DC redemption goes correct, newer ones redeem at DC+ once, and there's no double redemption due to DMA being non existent for touchstone.

my thought about Strange Magic was because it said at the end of the credits "for the purpose of copyright in the UK, Lucasfilm Ltd is the author of the film immediately after it was made", than it had the text "distributed by Walt Disney Studios motion pictures", that doesn't always mean a title can access DMA or use it right, depending on what copyright is present?

DMA's offices have confirmed its not eligible, i am glad thats cleared up.

Hi friend, Strange magic is marked as DMA eligible on vudu, are touchstone pictures titles supposed to be?

learned from the studio for those titles, that select exceptions like this one, need for speed, etc can use the service if they are under the Disney umbrella, and selected marvel titles if they are in the mouses hands can use DMA (since i know for older ones.... hope i have this correct.... they must be directly purchased from the XML to port, Paramount has control with both the physical and electronic processes with these, Disney has no control over the older ones, the newer ones have magic codes, where they have been control over the digital process, i assume marvel holds physical).

do you regard this as an exception to no touchstone being allowed into the server, or will this one automatically fail to port because its a touchstone movie?
