Yeah I never heard of that site until the first round of PS5 orders.

Well I think I have fully talked myself out of the flip flopping SSD debate now. Unless maybe I see a crazy good price around Black Friday and the Feds send me a check to pay for it

I regretted spending the money in 2015 for the 2TB drive for PS4 that I barely got passed halfway on in 2020, so I need to not repeat a similar dumb choice and roll with the 3TB (and that additional 2TB technically if I buy an enclosure) and not waste a bunch of money to save myself a small amount of transfer time since its not like I’ll be swapping back and forth a ton.

I was curious as to why they said it will be 60FPS but not 4K60. I suppose they will just be using the the PS4 Pro version that I read renders at 1800p but the framerate is unlocked. I thought we would see 4K60 modes for that and Last of Us II. Granted 1800p is darn close and probably looks amazing anyway.

I usually play the Uncharted games every 18-24 months or so, it's basically like revisiting a game like Horizon since they are 8-10 hour games if you are just going through the story with 4 being a little longer. I haven't replayed Lost Legacy though since my original playthrough. I'll probably play them all in the Spring depending on what the new game landscape is looking like.

Actually, if I replay all/most of my PS4 games up front then only having an external HDD won't be an issue because nothing will need to be moved back and forth anyway

Depending on what load times look like on the HDD, my plan is to play non-open world games from there and big open world like Horizon from the SSD. Since things like Uncharted load once up front and then never have a loading screen after that there is no reason to take up the SSD space.

From what I’ve seen external HDDs can even provide a bit faster loading than the internal drive on PS4 because of the slower drive and system they used.

I was also pleased to see it that is seems like we will be able to just plug our PS4 externals into the PS5 and have them work as is based on the Blog FAQ. Was not looking forward to redownloading and/or reinstalling 1TB of games. I'm interested to see if the PS5 is also like the Series X and loads games up faster than the current generation even on the same drives being used. Having improved load times even from a HDD would be great for my 3TB I am planning to use.

I've done some you level flip flopping on buying an external SSD if they go on a big sale for the holidays to get faster load times for my PS4 games and quicker transfer times for my eventual PS5 games that I need to move back and forth. I'm currently on the logical side of sticking with the plan of using the 3TB HDD since the transfer times shown by the Series X are not bad at all even for an HDD. If I do decide to buy an SSD the smart choice is wait until next year when they will be much more affordable.

I was actually quite surprised to see all except that small list would be available day one, I thought they would do more as time went on, didn't expect them to have essentially the entire library ready day one.

Yea they progress tracking addition is great, I always love when games would have that built in but it was pretty rare. Having a system wide option now is long overdue since the system has to internally track the progress anyway.

With it now a month away hopefully we finally start getting answers to all those remaining smaller questions.

Well looks like I’ll be playing Ghost of Tsushima at 60FPS. And it is confirmed that the saves will transfer for anyone who played on PS4.

I would fully expect AC and Cyberpunk to definitely transfer too.

Well its only for games that are upgraded that it seems to be hit and miss, from all reports the backwards compatibility game saves will work just fine to be fair.

It's baffling that that won't be a standard across both systems to transfer to the new ones. I'm now quite confident that PS3 Sony has showed up to play for PS5. Too confident and too cocky about themselves making strange decisions.

Nothing much has impacted me personally so far, but they are rubbing a good bit of people the wrong way.

Looks like you were right about flip flopping like a politician

Personally I definitely wouldn’t go through eBay for one and would wait until I can grab one at retail if I didn’t have a pre-order secured. The pre-orders keep popping back up here and there too, I think it will keep happening prior to launch and then there will be some on the shelf for launch.

To me the faster load times and better quality of playing the games was well worth picking up at launch to go with my new tv. I’ll have Ghost of Tsushima day one to play and will probably pick up Avengers for Black Friday if it drops like a typical Square game. But like I said before, if I had a Pro like you I would have waited to upgrade.
