I'm assuming you mean my overall rating, which is usually an averaged total (or thereabouts, there's not really a formula or anything) of all the other ratings... but to answer your question, "of course not". Any of my glowing A/V reviews for say, a Warner Archive disc (WB's boutique label that doesn't even release 4K discs) should prove that I'm not out to get the format, but if I'm comparing a Blu-ray/DVD and 4K/Blu-ray of the same title I'm probably going to score the latter a bit higher due to the usually-better A/V merits. Just remember that the 4K/Blu-ray includes BOTH formats and the bonus features, which are usually relegated to the Blu-ray to increase disc space for the 4K encoding.

In any case, I'd hope that actually reading the entire content of these reviews should prove that I don't have a hidden agenda. Don't get hung up on star ratings (a necessary evil in review land), because a middling one-half point difference shouldn't prompt that kind of response.

You mean this one? Looks fine on my end.

Much like Barnyard, I'm guessing that B-grade catalog animation titles aren't high on Marty's list. (Then again, even really good stuff like Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit went unreviewed until I asked him for it.) I'm not really a fan of any of those movies you listed but would consider requesting them as review titles if my to-do list dries up.

Can't argue with that. Just saying, it's a little constant.

Just saw your comment about my 3.5 ratings and, yes, I've probably given that score out more than any other. The short version is that everyone has their own scale, and I've always thought of a 3.5/5 (or 70%) as "perfectly fine, with plenty of great elements and some room for improvement", not a near-failing grade as defined by the American education system. It's not necessarily any kind of default, but most movies I've reviewed have just happened to land on that section of the scale. A more impressive or enduring film might get a 4/5, near-perfect would be 4.5/5, and a perfect 5/5 would be reserved for an all-time classic, especially one that holds up after several decades or more.

Of course the other reviewers here have their own scales for their own reasons, so someone else might give a 4/5 for the same reasons I go slightly lower.

Thanks. Frankly, I've seen many of your reviews that have a 3.5 rating. What's up with that?

Yeah, everyone has their own system but we usually review assigned discs based on popularity. That one was probably pretty far down the list for Marty, as he handles a lot of big studio releases. I handle Warner Bros. and Warner Archive primarily, and it's a bit of a slow month so I'm happy to pick up some slack.

Hello again! Looks like that's another one of Marty's, so I just messaged him offering to cover it if he's not able or interested.

Apparently that's one Marty just obtained, but I don't know when he'll have a review up.

Hi there! Thanks for the interest on that title. That's one of Marty Liebman's since it's a Universal release, but I'll ask if he wouldn't mind passing it over to me.
