The sequel sees Nathan Spencer return, this time fighting the presumably evil General Sabio, "a new technologically sophisticated foe," who is "on the brink of launching a deadly missile attack." Rearmed 2 also promises new weapons, two-player co-op (no word if it's online this time) and new tunes from the same composers who created the brilliant soundtrack for the original Rearmed.

I'm already looking forward to this. The original NES Bionic Commando was one of my all time favorite games and I loved the first BC Rearmed. I should really go back and finish it now that they made it a little easier. I got to the Albatross, but got stuck on the second stage which has apparently been removed now.

Not sure how I feel about being able to jump in the sequel. That was one of the things that set BC apart was that you needed to rely entirely on your swinging mechanical arm.

Since you are posting in the Classic Arcade Games thread, that probably means you like Arcade Games(wow, what a logical thinking...). I don't know if you have played that version, but if you like the NES version, YOU WOULD LOVE the Arcade one!

My point is, when they release a remake, why not release the original at the same time to please everyone?

Actually, I'm a hige fan of the NES game but I didn't like the arcade Bionic Commando at all.

Rearmed was nice and I'll get Rearmed 2 I'm sure. I just wish for old times sake Rearmed had kept atleast one bit where you have to knock out the reactor.

Same here. Love the NES version (completed it multiple times and bought reloaded), not a fan of the Arcade version at all.

Looks good, but I would love to see a Black Tiger reboot! Just watched "King of Kong", what a great game about classic old school gaming, got the DVD at Kmart brand new for 5 bucks!

It might be tempting to believe that the unprecedented addition of a jump button is the defining feature of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Having completed the game, I can assure you that jumping neither makes nor breaks Rearmed 2 at all. In fact, given all the hoopla surrounding Nathan "Rad" Spencer's newfound ability to spring himself up through muscular effort, it's ironic that Rearmed 2 consistently falls short of its predecessor.

Challenge rooms are back and are still one of the most enjoyable parts of the game.




Like the original, Rearmed 2 features local co-op for two players.

I could go on -- there are some technical glitches here and there, including one that got me stuck inside a wall -- but suffice it to say that Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 simply doesn't live up to its predecessor. Side by side, Rearmed looks more like the sequel, packed with bigger, better iterations of the concepts in Rearmed 2. It might be a good fit for those who have exhausted the original and just have to have some more bionic action, or for those who tried the original but absolutely could not grasp the controls or difficulty. Is it possible I'm simply a jaded fan; that nothing could live up to my expectations? Maybe, but it's tough to recommend Rearmed 2 in a world where the original still exists.

This is disapointing as I loved the first one. I've just bought the 3D one on futureshop last week for 10$ but havent got a chance to try it up yet.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 does, too, as do many XBLA games.
