Far as I'm concerned, Maul died in TPM. Personally I don't care if a Clone Wars cartoon is officially recognised as canon, Maul's survival is ludicrous and a moment like that is why I am only interested in the canon of the actual live action films.

Doubt we'd see that. It would come across as raising a large middle finger at George Lucas and I'm sure Disney and Abrams would think it ill-advised and in bad-taste.
