Default Three PS3 Issues

Hi all, new to this forum. I've had the PS3 for about six months now. Overall, we have enjoyed its capabilities. However, there are three issues that I've noticed with the unit and wanted to see if this has affected anyone else.

1. There was an update a few months ago that allows a DVD to be stopped or removed during playback and start where it left off. However, EVERY time I stop or remove a BLURAY during play, it will always start over. Is this the norm? On movies such as the Pirates of the Carribean, this is especially cumbersome since the Scene Selection cannot be accessed until after all previews are forwarded through.

2. Ive noticed that there seems to be a slightly different audio encoding for Bluray than standard DVDs when wanting to listen to 5.1. Specifically, I will put in a standard DVD and the reciever (Pioneer 1015) will operate normally. Then, I will put in a Bluray movie and the reciever thinks the signal is in stereo and I will need to override this with the Surround button on the reciever. Still, it will not activate the subwoofer, however.
This happens on both movies and PS3 video games. For reference, I am not trying to access the HD audio.

3. The most concerning just began with the most recent PS3 firmware update, version 2.41. There has never been any Bluray playback issues with movies on my Mitsubishi 73" projection TV (model 73734) until this firmware update two days ago. Now, the screen will glitch during playback of the previews, main menu and the first part of the movie. The glitches look like snow/static over the entire screen and will last only for a split second. However, it can happen half a dozen times or more per minute.
Also, when this happens, I can hear a component click inside the TV. It's the same sound that the TV makes when the input signal changes, such as adjusting from 480p to 1080p.
This glitch combined with the stop/start issues mentioned can make this very frustrating if I need to pause the movie for longer than a few moments or press "stop" out of habit.
For reference, I am using a 4' Monster 800HD Advanced High Speed HDMI cable.

Thanks in advance!
