ok, I'll bite. Just remember this much. This type of business stimulates the economy which keeps a strong dollar.
While I HATE how movies are announced a year in advance, this creates a buzz. Products announced so far in advance is to create a "mind share". "Mind share" products don't put money in the bank as much as they might stop people from buying the competitor product. "I'll wait for the better one."
Firmware is a double edged sword. Sure, it took longer for DVD to come out because they needed to have the firmware right. From there on, it was up to the studio to make sure their DVD's played. Today, studioes can fudge the blu-ray disc a little because the firmware will catch up.
I wish I could flash the firmware for a number of things I own. With those older products you are just stuck with how they work. Period.
