Bhaag Milkha Bhaag opened in Japan last week.
In order to make the film more Japanese-theater-friendly, it was trimmed down to 153 minutes
instead of its original time which is 186 min.
Maston Ka Jhund and several scenes around Army were omitted. And some of science involving
Milkha's love interests are also gone.
But there's one sequence in Japanese version that didn't appear in Indian 186 min. cut.
Here's the description of the sequence.
[Show spoiler] Later in the movie, when Milkha returns his hone in childhood, he reunites with his friend, Sampreet. After he said "I survived" and hugged, there's a flashback scene involving Sampreet witnessed his mother got killed but he escaped from pursuers by hiding under the seat of the train.
I wonder if this version ever screened in anywhere else in the world.
According to the Japanese distributor, this 153 min. cut was made by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra himself.
