The film may not have one true AR. Torsten Kaiser, who did the HD master, had this to say about the framing (caps follow):

Network are presumably using this same master, which is 1.37:1, but I suppose they might be doing their own crop.
As for 1.66:1, I'd just like to add that whilst the ratio was popular in Europe, it never caught on in the UK (or Italy for that matter) after it was first used during the first years of widescreen. By 1956/7, 1.75:1 became the dominant ratio, until 1967 onward, were 1.85:1 became dominant (which even as far back as 1957 was more frequently used than 1.66:1 was).
