It's a joke but 8k will definitely come. You can giggle about it, and moan about it, but it will come. Not soon, but eventually.
I don't expect movies to be it's focus though, it's going to be about big screen sporting events and things of that ilk. With this in mind, I doubt there'll be an 8k disc.
(but then I never really thought a 4k disc would be a thing, so what do I know.)
