I said that this gen would go back to the old days of 5 to 6 years between consoles, and I hope it does. Last gen went on for way too long, we used to do just fine with the 5 to 6 year gap, someone's even less than that so why should we be sick with out dated tech for the next 8 years.
Keep em cheap and more regular staying in touch with more recent tech seems to be the best way forward.
