I'm sorry, but that's just silly. Did the film's premise intrigue you? I would assume so, otherwise, you wouldn't have bought the film. So, unwrap it, watch it, and if you don't like it, sell it. Or, perhaps hold on to it, watch it again at a later time, and then if it still does nothing for you, you should be able to get most of your money back. My advice to you would be to always take what people say with a grain of salt.
I knew going in that
Lincoln wasn't going to be on par with
Schindler's List. But then again, I wasn't really thinking in those terms. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, especially Daniel Day-Lewis' performance. I've since watched it three times.
