It was released in 1960.. I think it was because the studios found it to be too appalling for the time. Arms getting ripped off or bites out of the neck werent very commonplace back then

The Flesh Eaters pushed the bar even more (Id love this on blu ray !! ) , and so did the HG Lewis movies, which became an inspiration to gory films all over the world !
