to me the tagline suggests 'action oriented' not so much human drama as the final film played. Of course the cast interaction has always been the benchmark for the show and the films but 3 years from the highly successful Voyage Home was a tough act to follow. But also back to the marketing and the fact that Trek V got release within a week of Batman '89 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was released shortly after that in June. Had this been released in the fall, it may have been better received.

Last Crusade came out in May, not June, May 24. Batman came out June 23, a month later. Star Trek V came out exactly 2 weeks in between (not 1 week), on June 9. It had plenty of time to be "better received", if the movie had actually been any good.
