Some places seem to be referring to this run as "the first season", but NBC refers to it as an "event series", which is usually code for limited run mini-series. It's scheduled for 10 episodes, and I'm reasonably sure that NBC will air all of them -- though if it does poorly enough, they might burn off episodes on Saturdays instead -- but I'm not expecting anything beyond these 10.
While there's certainly room for a straight-up adaptation of the books -- because we've never actually gotten one to this day -- I actually like the fact that it's taking the basic premise and doing something wildly different. But then, I'm a fan of Modern Dress Shakespeare, so there's that.
