The manual has directions on replacing/upgrading the hard drive so you don't void the warranty on the PS3.
Of course since you damaged it, you will most likely have to pay for shipping costs, the parts, and any labor involved. My thought is the plate could be shipped directly to you from PS3 since if you were able to take it out, it should be a CRU (customer replaceable unit). Of course if you stripped the holes that are inside the PS3 that dont come out,,then you will have to send it in.
