Default Wifi replacement antenna?

hey guys...

all right, so i built a new rig the other week after a power surge killed my old system. well, this morning my dog decided to eat the wifi antenna. i was actually lucky she didn't go for the monitor, power, or some other cable of the 2 billion i have running back there. anyway, the motherboard i have has built in wifi etc etc. it's the asus p5b deluxe. the antenna it had was basically this thin cable that ran to this little circle antenna (kind of like the old school AM antennas). anyway, so i hooked up an old linksys antenna to it and it "works." the problem is that with the old antenna i was getting around 80% signal and the linksys antenna im getting around 50%. from your guys' knowledge and experience, can i just pick up a different / better antenna and be good to go? or, anyone know a place where i can pick that specific antenna up? given my line of work, i can't sit at the unreliability of 50%. i am great with computers, but have little to no real life experience with replacement parts for wifi systems.
