Where is your local theater? I live in the SF/Bay Area and there are no 3D listings in the SF/Bay Area or Sacramento Area.

I don't want to give away my location to much, but even the imax in Melbourne is listing it as coming in 3d. As well as the two major cinema chains.

My local cinema and several others I have now checked have 2d sessions booked and 3d sessions booked. Now maybe the distributor has sent out incorrect info to everyone in Australia but that seems very unlikely.
