Again, could be wrong, but even with 2K DI titles they go in and create their own DMR remasters. And since Laser, Xenon digital, and 15/70 prints all require different masters, I believe they use upscaling if need be to create 4K DMR masters for laser.
Now likely a native 4K title will likely look better under the system, though in the admittedly not huge list of films I've seen in IMAX laser, I thought GITS looked the best: over Rogue One, Force Awakens (with the exception of the 15/70 sequence), Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Logan, and XXX: Return of Xander Cage. The Star Wars titles looked really nice also though IMO (as did Resident Evil, though the super choppy editing left a lot of that to waste), and I saw A Beautiful Planet on Xenon digital on a screen a fraction of the size so that wouldn't be a fair comparison.
