I cannot comment directly about Easy Company, but can write about what my father discovered when he was in WWII. He said that scene where the Unit could smell something long before they discovered what they were smelling was exactly how he remembered it. "It was so bad you could almost taste it." His unit, the "71st Infantry" (one of Patton's), discovered "Gunskirchen Lager" (in Austria) and a few others. It is still so upsetting to him that he rarely speaks of it. BTW - - He is a big fan of BoB; says it is the most realistic of all WWII films.
BTW - - If any of you are ever in Cincinnati look for his WWII uniform in the Holocaust Museum. "Trout" will be the name on the jacket.
