WB was notorious for this for a few years with their early releases. The problem with that though is that they were also notorious for having the disc default to lossy audio playback. So, like the film starting as soon as the disc loads all you want, but don't forget to load the pop-up menu and check your audio settings EVERY TIME you load one of those discs. In that regard, you will have to deal with menus anyways. :shrugs:
I prefer a load-up menu for this exact reason. It's a consistent and solid reminder to check audio settings before playback begins. Also, if my wife is watching with me, it also gives me time to turn subtitles on before the film starts instead of dealing with menus while the film has started. She is Japanese and English is her 2nd language. She doesn't pick up on a good chunk of spoken dialogue because it is often spoken so fast.
