Haven't watched this movie for a few years, so it was a fun ride to take again.
I forgot how strong the 3D was (or my old rig wasn't nearly as efficient for 3D).
This 3D was pretty strong, the first Mech fight gave me a quick bout of eye strain.
1.85 PQ was generally really detailed and color was phenomenal.
The other thing that jumped out at me was the quality of the effects shots.
These fight were so much more detailed and better animated than Kong: SI.
This movie puts many modern movies to shame.

This was actually the very first 3D movie we ever watched. It was on our old ST60 Panny plasma. When we bought the tv at the end of 2013 it was because we heard that they were being discontinued and we had read that plasmas had the beautiful deep blacks like our CRT Sony HD (34" and we still have it)
Well we didnt even realize it was a 3D capable set and honestly didnt care.
Then my brother and nephews wanted to come over for movie night and I found Pacific Rim 3D at our library and figured it would be a good "guy" movie.....
Wow, non stop action, excellent 3D and the sound shook the entire house. Even our dog left the room.
I tell ya, no one took a bathroom break for over 2 hours

And no squirmy, restless 12 year old boys.
After that the 3D quest began......
We have yet to watch it on the OLED, I can only imagine
Oh and we kept the plasma, it just found a new home upstairs
