To Sony's credit they do a neg cut for every movie of theirs that's shot on film but finished on a DI, so they've got a conformed version - albeit as the theatrical cut, for better or worse - which they can return to for a new 4K transfer. (I don't exactly know how they handle VFX shots within that framework because a film-out cut into the neg will lose a touch of quality vs the final 2K file upscaled into 4K, if I had to do it myself I'd choose the latter option.)
