In Master and Commander, in the scene where the ship is being towed into the fog, just as it first emerges from a completely gray fog bank, I get terrible noise/pixelation in the fog. Also, at the start of the disk, when the main menu fades out after a scene selection, it turns a series of ghastly shades of purple and pink. This doesn't happen on the popup menu, which fades out smoothly.

Is this an issue with the disk, or with my equipment?

I have:

BD Player: Samsung BD-P2500
v HDMI
AV Receiver: Samsung HT-AS720ST
v HDMI
TV: Samsung PN50-A650
