You could make a kick ass DIY sub like mine.

It cost me less than $25 for more than enough 3/4" MDF wood used to make it, about $20 shipped for the driver, and about $20 shipped for the port. I used a plate amp for it off one of my old Onkyo subs. So for way less than $100, you can make a sub that will blow any sub even close to that price range out of the water. It definitely has some output yet isn't sloppy at its job. It's no A2-300 but is a very respectable cousin. It doesn't look half-bad either.
