that system will output hd audio. though you may find cheaper solutions if you look around. check out some sticky threads in these forums. also, if you use hdmi from a player to receviever then out to tv, its one way, youll need to use another cable for audio going to an input on the receiver. going from player to tv then receiver isnt recommended

that receiver is also the onkyo sr 606. you can find them pretty cheap if you look around and then get a seperate speaker system.
