I thought Tim Story's first effort was passable; the casting of Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis was 100% genius. The plot was pretty good, too...when you take into account the highest mark at the time was
Spider-Man 2. I thought Ioan Gruffudd was too young for Reed then, but he'd be perfect for it now. Jessica Alba had some okay moments, but I didn't really believe her as anything other than the typical bitter ex-girlfriend, who spends half the film shifting between the team's overly-concerned mother figure and an emotional manipulator. The movie's final battle against Doctor Doom still holds up okay, but the sequel was atrocious.
