Default Why is the 24p “effect” more pronounced on some films, but barely noticebl on others?

When your tv is on 24hz mode and you’re watching a blu ray, on some movies I find it is beautifully smooth, naturally smooth etc. But then I’ll put another movie on almost looks the same as 2:3 pull down.

Notably Exodus looks incredible in 24p, almost looks like it’s in HFR. Whereas Ghost in the Shell you can barely notice it (same tv settings on both).

Also, I find there is no smooth look to any older movie. Pre “modern age” (edit: by this I mean the current style of filmmaking has probably not changed since 1999 with saving private Ryan. Anything before this)

Anyone know why this is?
