Fighting in shallow water, African weaponry that can be awkward and the most important factor is, in CW he was angry and fuelled by revenge for the death of his father. That could explain for an extra 20% or more improvement in combat. Pure anger/Animalistic rage/adrenaline.
He seems way more chilled in general in Panther

No guys, T'Challa was The Black Panther, Wakanda's protector already, in Civil War. T'Chaka had passed the mantle on to him before the events of CW. He wasn't King, but he was The Panther.
