Just saw Filmworker about Leon Vitali. An absolutely fascinating and sometimes challenging documentary about the secret hero behind Stanley Kubrick. Its so sad to see how swept under the rug this guy is, when he is an absolute master in his own right.

Can't wait to see his 4k restoration after the ugly abomination that was the Nolan "unrestored" 70mm print. There's no way a perfectionist like Kubrick would've signed off on a print that looked like "Grindhouse".

Vitali is the only one who should be supervising these transfers/releases. Warner should've been honoring Leon with a wide release of his new transfer in the States (like what was smartly done in the UK) instead of promoting the Nolan ego trip. Would love a Dolby Cinema release).

In the documentary, Vitali said that his perfect death would be at the end of making a 4K master of 2001. Luckily he's still around to see its release.
