Multi-Tiered Question...
Today, I am a man. I'm the new owner of a Mitsi 52" LCD, an Onkyo 706, and an 80 gig PS3. Praise the lord, I feel like I've won the lottery. Except that they didn't have any speaker packages (Circuit City going-out-of-business sale... which is kind of weird since there's only one in my town, but whatever).
There are different questions here, so I figured this would be the best thread to put it. If not, please don't regale my inadequate shortcomings...I know all about them already. If it's not a constructive comment, please pass it up.
Now...I know to go to Monoprice.com to get the cables. However...do I get two HDMI cables, one from the PS3 to the receiver, and the receiver to the TV, or do I need a fiber optic cable as well from the PS3 to the receiver to get the best sound? I thought I saw there was a firmware update that eliminated the need for the fiber optic, but I want to make sure and order everything at once. I think I should only need 3 ft. cables, since everything will be fairly close together.
One of the first things I want is Planet Earth UK version. I've heard it's hell to order that from the US, anyone how if it's true, and if so how others managed to get it?
I want to get a 5.1 speaker setup initially (I'll get the two rears and extra sub later), preferably Klipsch. Has anyone ordered speakers online, and from what sites? I'm looking for a 5.1 bundle, but not an HTiB.
